Many users have reported experiencing issues with the PlayStation Network (PSN) this afternoon. For the same day as Hogwarts Legacy, PlayStation’s largest launch of the year on the PS5 (at least in early access), is taking place, it appears that issues have arisen with the internet service that supports PlayStation systems. And even while it’s not yet obvious what exactly might be causing this issue, there’s a decent probability that Sony is already looking towards a fix.

Why is PSN down?

Users of the PS5 and PS4 consoles have recently begun to claim often that PSN is having problems. According to customers who have experienced outages, PSN problems started at 4:30 p.m. ET today and have only gotten worse over time. Since these PSN problems are still being worked on as of the time of this writing, many individuals are unable to play online games or use any other functions connected to PlayStation’s internet services.

The notification reads, “This seems to be the most frequent issue PlayStation players are encountering.” “This material is not usable. Connecting to the server to check your license is not possible. Retry after some time has passed.” Even though PlayStation occasionally has this issue, typically all that is required to resolve it is to restore the licenses from the PS5 or PS4’s menu. However, this time the repair isn’t functioning, indicating that Sony is currently experiencing more serious issues.

It’s difficult to predict how long a suitable patch would take because, as was already said, Sony hasn’t released a comment regarding the condition of PSN. The majority of the time, though, outages like this one don’t linger for a very long time. Therefore, if you’re experiencing problems on either a PS5 or a PS4, hopefully they won’t have a long-term negative effect on your own ability to play a variety of games.
