Winnie-the-Pooh, a once goofy old bear, quickly became a horror game icon after entering the public domain last year. A horror video game’s main nemesis has been identified as Alan Alexander Milne and Ernest Howard Shepard’s creation, just a few short months after it made its appearance in Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. The setting of the game, called Hundred Acre Wood, is “twisted by an Otherworldly Power,” according to the game’s official page on Steam. In order to find out what caused these alterations, players will have to save Christopher Robin.

Players will be pursued by Winnie-the-Pooh while attempting to save Christopher Robin. Players will, thankfully, have assistance from “Eldritch Beasts that were once familiar faces.” Despite any alterations they may have undergone, it appears like Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, and Kanga will all be participating in the game. The first-person perspective will be used to play the game, and the creators promise “a rich story filled world” with well-known characters like Heffalumps and Woozles. The game’s world can be explored with great freedom by players as well.
The official description says, “Run, hide, platform, solve puzzles, and shoot as you explore the Hundred Acre Wood’s regions in any order you want. Do whatever it takes to avoid Winnie-the-Pooh as you sneak past the hostile creatures hiding in the darkness. Discover the ruins of a once innocent child’s refuge as you uncover ancient secrets hinting at a reality beyond human comprehension.”
Although Hundred Acre Wood does not yet have a release date and is merely described as “coming soon,” we can expect to learn a lot more about the game in the months to come. When Blood and Honey came out, it received a lot of negative reviews from critics. Hopefully, Hundred Acre Wood will do a better job of fusing the classic story with the horror genre.
