James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, has added a little more detail about how video games will fit into its new cinematic universe. Over the past 20 years or more, superhero games have seen a significant evolution. Many of the bigger ones from the early 2000s were companion pieces to the numerous superhero films that were being released at a breakneck pace. As a result, timeless films like Spider-Man 2 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine were created. The Batman Arkham series and subsequently Marvel’s Spider-Man were two extremely well-regarded standalone games that were created by developers who managed to crack the code. Since gaming has evolved much since those times, movie tie-in games are essentially a thing of the past. Instead, developers are concentrating on presenting their own unique stories.

James Gunn confirmed how DC games will fit
However, James Gunn recently made it official that he intends to incorporate new video games into the next DC television series and motion pictures. However, the goal is considerably more comprehensive than games with movie tie-ins. Instead, he has stated that they would create brand-new stories for games. So, they can fill in the holes in some of these stories and span the gaps between films. Today, Gunn talked about the folks who don’t enjoy video games on Twitter. He said, they will still be able to keep up with the DC universe’s story. And, achieving that by only watching the movies and TV shows.
He disputed the assertions of some fans that it takes a long time to create games. And he also added that they had already started preparing them. According to Gunn, it typically takes four years to produce a AAA game, thus the first game set in the DC universe might be released in 2027. That would fall in the middle of the DC slate, which is anticipated to begin in 2025 with Superman: Legacy, if it turns out to be accurate. We don’t yet know what the first game will be, but we’re hoping it will be able to compete with the other major superhero games that are being released this generation.
